Service and Repair Shop Accreditation

Under Presidential Decree No. 1572 and Republic Act No. 7394 or the Consumer Act of the Philippines, the Department of Trade and Industry regulates Service and Repair Enterprises (SREs) to give adequate protection and defend the interest of the public against unethical, unfair, and incompetent practice of SREs and to protect reliable and competent SREs against malpractices.

The SRE Accreditation is among the DTI services covered by a Citizen Charter.

The certificate issued by the DTI is valid for one year and renewed every January of every year.

DTI Accreditation of Private Emission Testing Center

All Private Emission Testing Centers should be accredited first by the Department of Trade and Industry before it is allowed to operate. This is in pursuance of DTI Department Order No. 03 Series of 2002, “RULES AND REGULATIONS CONCERNING THE ISSUANCE OF DTI ACCREDITATION OF MOTOR VEHICLE PRIVATE EMISSION TESTING CENTER (PETCs)”.

Truck Rebuilding Center Accreditation

Under the DTI Department Administrative Order No. 08, “GUIDELINES FOR THE MANDATORY ACCREDITATION OF REBUILDING CENTERS”, all establishments which conduct rebuilding services for trucks falling under any of the following catergories M3, N1, N2 or N3 of PNS 1891:2000 must be accredited first by the DTI before they can legally engage in the business of truck rebuilding.

The accreditation program was promulgated to assure the public that all rebuilt trucks are safe and roadworthy and meet the standards on exhaust emission.
